Epica 的灵魂人物是吉他手 Mark Jansen ，早先 Mark Jansen 在 After Forever 效力。离开之后重新组织了 Epica 乐队。
值得注意的是，乐队有独立的古典乐队。在 MTV 中可以看到优秀的小提琴队伍的演奏。而同属于歌特金属的WT似乎只有一、两个人。
优秀的女声在这个行当里面是很吃香的，Epica 的 Simone Simons 不但拥有浑厚、缥缈、优美的声色，长的也非常对得起观众（和同类其他乐队比起来），奇怪的是，他们的专辑很少用美女做封面。
视频中还特别吸引人眼球的是唱诗班，这个东西的作用或许和和声类似。但是其带来的实际效果远比和声宏大。而哥特的韵味也由此涌现。
Cry To The Moon 是一首在各个方面都达到了极至的作品。无论是主唱、和声、编曲（这个尤为重要，给人从头到尾一气呵成的感觉），还是吉他、小鼓等金属类乐器，都已经达到了不可超越的地步！当然，专辑中并不是所有的歌都如此优秀。既然是歌特，必然是有死亡的。那些纯粹想听旋律＋和声的人还是别下MP3了。
